2014 Hirsch 'Raschen Ridge' Estate Pinot Noir
The 2014 Raschen Ridge Estate Pinot Noir is the result of this observation and patience. Year after year, we tasted blocks 17, 15 and 2, confirming that indeed, this was a singular expression within Hirsch that should be bottled on its own. Finally in 2014, it was time. Made from the highest elevation vineyards at Hirsch, the Raschen Ridge is a wine of electric, kinetic intensity. Forward and explosive on the nose, it has tremendous structure and concentration on the palate. Sexy and serious, drinkable and age-worthy, it is a wine for both the hedonist and the collector. As the vines age, and as we age, we deepen into our appreciation of the gift of responsibility as custodians of this site. The reward from the vineyard is wines such as these.
