LIBRARY RELEASE - very limited
A special library release of our signature pinot, in magnum, from one of California's greatest vintages.
The 2009 vintage was remarkable for the mildness and evenness of the weather throughout the growing season. This enabled excellent phenolic and physiological ripeness at moderate sugar levels. 2009 produced wines of intense structure, high acidity, moderate alcohol, complex aromatics, cellar worthiness and most importantly, balance and site-specificity.
The San Andreas Fault is Hirsch Vineyards’ signature pinot noir and is crafted to represent the entirety of this complex vineyard. The 2009 San Andreas Fault has fruit from 28 distinct farming blocks within Hirsch Vineyards, thereby capturing a complete expression of Hirsch. It is named for the fault-line which marks the meeting of the North American and Pacific tectonic plates, snaking its way up the California coast and passing less than a mile from Hirsch.
